Deep in London’s East End, in the infamous Peacock Gym something is bubbling that purports to be the next big thing in British boxing. And if that doesn’t happen then it’s got finding the next big thing in British boxing to fall back on.
Frank Warren has signed hot amateur Ahmet Patterson. The 22-year-old welterweight turned down a place at the Commonwealth Games boxing for Jamaica to turn pro and will debut on the undercard of Liam Smith’s challenge for the vacant Commonwealth super featherweight title on October 23 at the York Hall.
"I believe I can be a world champion. The offer was on the table for me to go to the Commonwealth games for Jamaica, but I want to get on with my career and start winning professional titles," Patterson told frankwarren.tv.
