Khan opens his gym to Gallagher camp

WBA and IBF light-welterweight champion Amir Khan has opened his Bolton gym to trainer Joe Gallagher and his camp after the respected trainer left his gym in Manchester.

Gallagher revealed in his MEN column last week that he would be leaving Kerry Kayes’ Betta Bodies gym after three years at the Denton premises where Ricky Hatton and Billy Graham plotted the Hitman’s route to worldwide stardom.

Macklin says seven-month lay off won’t affect him

Middleweight title challenger Matthew Macklin has reassured fans that his seven-month lay off will not hinder his chances of snatching the WBA belt from champion Felix Sturm this weekend.

Speaking to the Birmingham Mail, Macklin who has not fought since December last year revealed that the prospect of fighting for a title was the only incentive he needed to produce the goods come fight night.
