Brian Rose signs with Matchroom Sport

Matchroom Sport and Eddie Hearn are delighted to announce that Lonsdale belt holder Brian Rose has signed promotional terms with the team.

The British light middleweight champion won the belt outright in December with a win over Sam Webb, and the 27 year old says he believes he can move onto hunting World honours under new promoter Eddie Hearn.

Eddie Hearn says that talks over a possible Brit blockbuster between Kell Brook and Amir Khan have begun.

The unbeaten Sheffield welterweight star faces an IBF welterweight World title eliminator next Saturday night (October 20) in the Steel City against Argentine Hector Saldivia in Betfair’s ‘This Is It’, with Randall Bailey defending the title against Devon Alexander in New York on the same night.

Mathews and Crolla could meet in Prizefighter final

Anthony Crolla could meet Derry Mathews in the final of the Betfair Prizefighter Lightweights II at the Liverpool Olympia on Saturday night (October 6) live on Sky Sports.

Mathews ripped the British title from Crolla in Oldham in April and the draw for Saturday’s action threw up the chance for revenge for the Manchester man as the pair landed in separate halves of the draw.

Kell Brook and Carson Jones clash at fiery weigh-in

Kell Brook and Carson Jones clashed on the scales at the official weigh in for their IBF World welterweight title eliminator in Sheffield tonight.

Their fight tops the bill in the bumper Betfair ‘Edge of Glory’ card at the Motorpoint Arena live on Sky Sports 1HD from 8pm. Sparks flew again when they went head-to-head after they both made the weight, with Brook reiterating his KO promise in front of his home fans.

Price set for American debut in July

British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion David Price is set to make his American debut on July 27 on a show in Atlantic City against a yet to be named opponent.

Price had initially targeted a slot on the undercard of Amir Khan's world title clash with Danny Garcia in Las Vegas on July 7 but his team were unable to complete a deal for that to happen.

Froch: ‘Kessler owes me fight in Nottingham’

IBF super-middleweight champion Carl Froch has revealed he expects to be back out in Nottingham in mid-October to face Mikkel Kessler in a return of their barnstormer in 2010.

Froch lost a close decision to Kessler back in April of 2010, after travelling to the ‘Viking Warrior’s’ hometown of Herning in Denmark and going toe-to-toe with him for 12 hard rounds.

The Prizefighter Super Middleweight II champion will fight for new promoter Hearn on July 7 as part of the exciting undercard of Kell Brook’s IBF welterweight clash with Carson Jones at the Motorpoint Arena Sheffield.
