Khan opens his gym to Gallagher camp

WBA and IBF light-welterweight champion Amir Khan has opened his Bolton gym to trainer Joe Gallagher and his camp after the respected trainer left his gym in Manchester.

Gallagher revealed in his MEN column last week that he would be leaving Kerry Kayes’ Betta Bodies gym after three years at the Denton premises where Ricky Hatton and Billy Graham plotted the Hitman’s route to worldwide stardom.

Sturm vs Macklin weigh-in pictures

WBA middleweight champion Felix Sturm and challenger Matthew Macklin both made weight at Friday’s official weigh-in for their world title showdown at the Lanxess Arena in Cologne, Germany on Saturday night.

Sturm easily made the 160 pound limit, tipping the scale at 158lbs while Macklin weighed in at 159lbs. Both fighters looked to be in tremendous physical shape and ready to go.

‘Dazzling’ Darren Barker will return to the ring on April 30 against Domenico Spada for the vacant European Middleweight title at London Olympia.

Barker and Spada are ranked six and seven in the WBC rankings and their showdown for the European belt could open the door for a World title shot in the summer against the winner of Sebastian Zbik and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr’s bout on June 4 in Los Angeles.
