The 32 year old three division world champion from Caguas shall enter as a 4-11 favourite but it’s certainly no foregone conclusion against the naturally larger and unbeaten 27 year old southpaw who seeks to break into the Big Time himself.

Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao literally put paid to the ‘boxing is dead’ proclamations this week by topping Forbes list of the highest-paid athletes in the world.

Forbes.com named Mayweather its highest-paid athlete over the last year. Mayweather earned $85 million (£54m), knocking golfer Tiger Woods out of the top spot that he has held since 2001.

Floyd Mayweather’s unanimous decision win over Miguel Cotto on May 5 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas generated 1.5m pay-per-view buys and $94m (£58.5m) in PPV revenue, HBO announced on Friday.

Shane Mosley rolled back the years to put on a spirited performance against Mexican sensation Saul Alvarez but could not stop the rising star running away with a unanimous points win to retain his WBC light-middleweight title.
