In the biggest of this weekend’s fights, Vitali Klitschko defended his WBC heavyweight title with a comprehensive points victory over Shannon Briggs in Hamburg. Underdog Briggs showed superb resilience to last 12 rounds in the face of a thunderous barrage but the Ukrainian was awarded every round by all three judges.

Antonio Tarver wants Haye and Klitschkos

Former light-heavyweight champion Antonio Tarver aims to fight either David Haye or the Klitschko brothers for the world heavyweight title by the end of 2011. The 42-year-old Roy Jones Jnr conqueror outlined his plans in a conference call with boxing writers on Tuesday ahead of his debut outing in the heavyweight division with dangerous Dominican Nagy Aguilera.
