Khan returns to Sky Sports

WBA super champion and IBF titleholder Amir Khan will return to Sky Sports for his next three fights starting with his defence against Lamont Peterson in Washington DC on December 10.

Khan will fight on Sky for the first time since he defeated Marcos Maidana in his Las Vegas debut in December last year in a clash that many in boxing called the Fight of the Year.

Mongolian Warrior Choi gets second crack at Prizefighter

The Mongolian Warrior Choi Tseveenpurev hopes it will be second time lucky when he takes part in Prizefighter for the second time as the Featherweights hit York Hall on October 29, live on Sky Sports.

Choi, who lost a thrilling semi-final to Derry Mathews in the Super-Featherweights night last November, will be in great shape for the 22nd edition of the tournament after recording a knockout in the second round of his last outing on Friday night.

Michael Watson honoured at charity dinner

The cream of British boxing gathered at the Dorchester hotel in London on Tuesday night, September 20, for a charity dinner in honour of Michael Watson (click to see pictures).

Twenty years ago, Watson fought Chris Eubank at White Hart Lane for the WBO super-middleweight title. Eubank won the fight in the final round, but for Watson, the real battle was only just beginning after he collapsed in the ring and fell into a coma.

Warren launches new boxing channel

Veteran promoter Frank Warren has joined forces with Boxing Channel Media to launch an independent, groundbreaking new boxing subscription channel called BoxNation.

Set to launch on Friday, September 30 at 7pm on Sky channel 456, BoxNation is the first ever channel dedicated to serving the UK's live fight enthusiasts and sports fans, and will feature Warren’s long list of fighters.

Hearn: ‘Less pay-per-views will help sport grow’

Matchroom Sport boss Eddie Hearn has backed Sky’s decision to put a freeze on pay-per-view billings in the upcoming season saying the move will help the sport to ‘grow’.

With two world title fights on the horizon, the return of Prizefighter and a major show in Belfast almost sold out, Hearn, who is already in full swing ahead of the new season, revealed he wasn’t a big fan of PPV shows.

Sky Sports drops pay-per-view

It is being reported that Britain’s premier boxing broadcaster Sky Sports will drop pay-per-view for the foreseeable future after a troubled spell with the premium presentations over the last year.

A dispute with Amir Khan’s management and two disappointing features starring David Haye have persuaded Sky to pull out of more pay-as-you-watch deals in the upcoming boxing season.
