Khan vs McCloskey does over 50,000 PPV buys

UK pay-per-view channel Primetime has revealed that Amir Khan’s title defence against Paul McCloskey on Saturday has done over 50,000 PPV buys.

The weekend’s broadcast, which was anchored by Jim Rosenthal with boxing veterans Steve Collins and Robin Reid, was put together at short notice after Khan parted company with usual partner Sky Sports in the final week before the fight.

Khan vs McCloskey heading to Primetime TV

Amir Khan’s title defence against unbeaten Irishman Paul McCloskey is said to be heading for pay-per-view channel Primetime TV after the champ’s camp refused a deal to be shown on Sky Sports 3.

The move came after Sky downgraded Khan v McCloskey from a pay-per-view event last week, following various withdrawals from the undercard, hitting the WBA champ in the pocket for close to £1m.
