Danny Green undergoes emergency surgery
IBO cruiserweight champion Danny Green is recovering in hospital after undergoing emergency surgery last week to remove an abscess on his appendix.
The Aussie slugger, who knocked out future Hall of Famer Roy Jones Jnr in the first round of their title encounter in 2009, was rushed to hospital last Wednesday after his appendix burst.
According to Green, however, he had initially checked himself into Busselton Hospital in Western Australia complaining of an acute stomach pain earlier the same day, only to be told everything was fine.
The abscess, reported to have been the size of a cricket ball, was removed after a lengthy surgery, leaving the 37-year-old wheelchair-bound. Doctors told the IBO champion, that any blow to the stomach around the growth could have been fatal.
