Pacquiao to meet Barack Obama
Pound-for-pound boxing king Manny Pacquiao has confirmed that he will meet US President Barack Obama at the White House later this month.
The eight-division world champion told Philippine Entertainment Portal that he and wife Jinkee have been invited to a meeting at the White House on February 15.
It is understood that the trip was made possible by Bob Arum’s friend and US Senator Harry Reid, who is a party mate of Barack Obama. Pacquiao supported Harry Reid during his recent campaign for another term as the state representative of Nevada.
Pacquiao, who is a congressman himself in his home country Philippines, spoke of his excitement at meeting the American Commander in Chief, saying, ‘I've long dreamed of meeting US President Obama. I will never forget this because I admire him very much.’
The Filipino superstar returns to the US later this week to kick off the press tour for his upcoming fight with former welterweight king Shane Mosley on May 7 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
