Klitschko vs Chisora weigh-in pics and vid
Brit challenger Dereck Chisora slapped WBC king Vitali Klitschko this afternoon when the pair came face to face at the weigh-in for their heavyweight title contest on Saturday night, live on BoxNation.
Chisora set the tone for fractious affair after what had been a respectful build up to fight night with the pair often caught embracing and sharing a joke at their various head-to-head events this week.
After weighing in at 17 stone 3lbs - just a pound heavier than his lightest weight for a professional bout - Chisora butted heads before slapping Klitschko's face hard.
The two men were pulled apart, with a furious-looking Klitschko, who had weighed in three pounds heavier at 17st 6lbs, left with a red mark on the left side of his face.
The move was condemned by Chisora’s trainer Don Charles who called it ‘unacceptable’, with promoter Francis Warren, son of Frank, surmising that it could all be part of the eccentric Londoner’s plan to upset the odds on fight night.
‘We’re all scratching our heads about it, to be honest,’ said Francis Warren. ‘You always expect something from Dereck - he’s a character - but it’s usually something that winds people up or is a bit jovial.
‘So for him to get physical and aggressive, unprovoked, is surprising. But I’m sure there’s method to his madness and we’ll find out if the madness has paid off tomorrow night.’
