Alexander vs Maidana final presser pics
The pair who were slated to meet in a third/fourth playoff back at light-welterweight after losing respective contests to Tim Bradley and Amir Khan, will finally get it on in 147-pound division as they try to make a name in the busiest weight class in the sport.
Hometown fighter Alexander promised big things at the new weight, stating, ‘The 147-pound division is in for a rude awakening because I definitely feel stronger and feel faster.’ A claim seconded by his trainer Kevin Cunningham.
Unfazed by the challenge of facing Alexander in his hometown, Maidana said, ‘I know we are in for a very tough fight since Devon is a great fighter but I have prepared for everything that he brings.’
The tension at the press conference, however, was provided by co-feature combatants Adrien Broner and Eloy Perez who along with their respective camps exchanged insults back and forth.
Broner, who makes his first defence of his WBO super-featherweight title, even offered every single member of Perez’s camp out, challenging them to glove up once he beat their man.
