Burns wants Mitchell in Scotland
Burns who hails from neighbouring Coatbridge saw off Namibian challenger Paulus Moses in front of a packed house at the Braehead Arena in Glasgow on Saturday night and immediately suggested the bigger venue for his next defence.
And with promoter Frank Warren having already suggested that a football ground would be needed to stage a contest between Burns and Mitchell, the Scotsman has offered the 10,000 capacity Scottish division two stadium as his preferred option.
‘A fight in Airdrie in the summer is definitely something we could do,’ said Burns. ‘I think it would be a big hit because I'm from that area.
‘I think it would be a sell-out because the fans in Scotland showed they will come out and support me. I'll sit down next week with Frank Warren (promoter) and Alex Morrison (manager) and we'll discuss my next move.’
Burns, who gets married in Mexico at the end of the month, also revealed he’ll be straight back in the gym after a few days off so he can look good for his wedding photos.
‘I'm going to take a few days off and then I'll get straight back into the gym. We get married in Mexico, we fly out on the 21st and get married on the 30th so I don't want to lose my six pack for the photos,’ said Burns.
