Bradley won a controversial split-decision over Pacquiao at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Saturday night taking it 115-113 on two of the judges’ scorecards with the other calling it 115-113 to Pacquiao.
Bearing his feet and with his right ankle grotesquely swollen, Bradley claimed that he heard his left foot snap in the second round of the contest and went on to injure his right foot In about the fifth.
‘I went back to the corner after the second and I said, 'Coach, I think I broke my ankle,'’ said Bradley. ‘I wasn't quitting. This was Manny Pacquiao.’
His trainer, Joel Diaz, revealed he gave the fighter two options: quit or fight on. ‘You have two options,’ Diaz said he told Bradley. ‘I said, 'Either I'll stop the fight now or you'll suck it up and fight like a warrior.’’
Bradley was taken to a local hospital for x-rays. Meanwhile Pacquiao remained very gracious in defeat reiterating that he believed he won the fight but commending his opponent and stating he respected the decision.
‘I respect the decision but 100 percent I believe I won the fight,’ said Pacquiao. ‘But the decision has already been made so we have to respect and give credit to my opponent also.
‘The fans in your heart know who won the fight but its okay, its part of the game and we accept that. The best attitude an athlete can have is respect and professionalism for this boxing world.’
