Price credits win to sparring with Haye
Unbeaten heavyweight prospect David Price has praised the excellent sparring he received with WBA champion David Haye ahead of his win over Tom Dallas on Saturday night.
Price flattened the 6ft 6ins fighter from Kent in the second round to set up an October British title eliminator with John McDermott and the former Olympic bronze medallist credited his time with Haye for his performance.
‘When fighters training for a Klitschko ask for me they won’t find anybody better – and David Haye knows that,’ Price told The Daily Star.
‘It was brilliant sparring with David. It can’t get any better than working with the world champion. You pick up things they do in the gym. Not just in the sparring, but little things like how they warm up and cool down.
‘Everything David does is so meticulous. It is good to see that type of professionalism and it can only rub off on me, especially as he is someone I look up to.
‘He is a different class to anyone else I have sparred with. His speed is incredible and his defence is better than people make out.
‘You cannot make a mistake at any time because you know he will make you pay. I think he will beat [Wladimir] Klitschko. It will be intense but if David lands a good shot and jumps on him it will be over.’
