Sky Germany to show Haye vs Chisora

Posted on Jun 28, 2012

Sky Germany have confirmed that they will televise live David Haye and Dereck Chisora’s heavyweight championship showdown from West Ham United’s Boleyn Ground in East London on July 14.

Haye and Chisora face-off in the biggest all-British heavyweight grudge fight in recent memory with the WBO and WBA International titles on the line and the nation where it all started will now be able to tune into the fight thanks to Sky Germany.

Despite public demand the controversial contest, which arose from a post-fight press conference brawl in Munich, was without a broadcaster in Germany after terrestrial TV heavyweights and Klitschko partners ARD pulled out.

Germany's biggest selling daily tabloid newspaper Bild recently held a survey on its website and asked its readers if they supported ARD's decision to withdraw from televising the Haye vs Chisora contest. And they were answered with a resounding ‘no’ as a massive 72 percent of the 24,366 who voted said, ‘No! I want to see the fight.’

Sky Germany have now stepped in to ensure that the German boxing fans will now see the fight that the whole world is waiting to see. The fight will still be televised live and exclusive in the UK on BoxNation (Sky 456, Virgin 546), in America on EPIX and in 60-plus countries.
