Westlife want Pacquiao to join them in concert
Irish boyband Westlife have invited pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao to join them on stage later this month when they perform in the boxer’s home country, the Philippines.
Having scheduled a concert for September 29 at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, band member Shane Filan told Filipino broadcaster ABS-CBN News that the group would be ‘honored’ by Pacquiao’s appearance.
‘We’re very excited. We haven’t been in the Philippines for a long time and we haven’t seen our fans for a very long time,’ said Filan. ‘If Pacquiao would like to join us on stage, we'd be truly honoured. He's a big star.’
A superstar back home as well as serving congressman, Pacquiao is as much known for his passion for karaoke as he is for his handiwork in the ring, and has even charted for his cover of 70s ballad Sometimes When We Touch.
