David Haye clears up car crash incident
David Haye has confirmed that he was not present at the scene of a car crash that involved his white Mercedes Benz sports car last Friday.
We reported last weekend that David Haye had walked away unscathed from the crash that wrecked his beloved car but in his first diary entry for skysports.com, ahead of his title bout with Audley Harrison, Haye refuted claims that he was in the passenger seat at the time of the incident, stating:
“Yes, my white Mercedes collided with first an Audi and then a lamp post, but I was not driving, in the passenger seat or even in the same town. My bodyguard, Danny Watts, was the man at the wheel and he was the one who got unlucky at a passenger crossing on Brixton Road.
“Thankfully, Danny was fine after the incident and the only casualty was my car, which was reluctantly laid to rest soon after. It was a particularly emotional moment for me, though, as that Mercedes was the first 'proper' sports car I'd ever bought!”
